When you run out of table space what do you do?
Hang the plants on a wall of course!
The first idea was to put some sort of pockets in there for plants but that prototype was scrapped for an easier outcome.
This is going to be just number one of plenty plant painting ideas I have so it is in no way perfected yet.
I was supposed to take more of these making-of pictures but because this plant blog ain't no arts and crafts blog, the result is less instagram and more like real life.
(have you ever tried taking photos with silicone, water and plenty of moss in your hands?)
The white orchid with the tiny keiki finally got cut off to produce small, easy to add orchid on the wall.

So basically what we start with is an empty frame, coconut fiber and air plants.
I used silicone to waterproof the edges and to glue the coconut fiber in to the frame.

Ignore the mess on the background, this is a plant blog not decorating blog.
Also creativity grows in messy houses.
Always when handling orchids make sure the roots are well watered in order to prevent breakage.
When they're a little green they are little bit more bendy.
I then used water and sphagnum moss to make easy to mold water holding "nest" to the orchids.
Similar to how kokodamas are made, just without any soil.
Then began the process of putting moss around the roots and wire it up so it stays together.
Let me tell you that the smaller the roots are the easier it is to make it to look good and circular.
But we are not aiming to perfection here, we are aiming to just see if it works.
Simply as that I just then wired the plants to the coconut fiber and ended up with this
Light wiring makes it easier to move the plants around as you wish to create different kind of landscapes.
Some wood glue would work if you want to make it more permanent
Simple
Easy
And adequate way to present your plants on 2D-surface
I have already started to plan the painting number two, in which I hope I get to use something more complicated plants with different type of setting.
