Have you ever noticed how some leaves look wet even though it hasn't rained for days?
That's honeydew, sounds magical and lovely ain't it?
Sometimes when you walk through the woods or just under some trees and feel a drop on your face, that's not water. It's honeydew.
What is honeydew?
hah
It's aphid shit.
Now that I got my first sick leave day ever because of one of these dickweeds flying straight in to my eyeball and launching an allergic reaction galore I decided to do an aphid appreciation post.
Obviously this is just karma hitting me back since I've killed millions of aphids and other little shits at work and off from work (Nothing relaxes me more than a little genocide).
Here's for you, aphids
I have killed and I will kill again.
There's going to be insane amounts of aphids this year in Finland so be prepared to be showered by honeydew.
But maybe it's not such a disgusting thing after all
I mean
We've eaten honey for centuries and that's basically
Better just open your mouth and let that delicious sugarcoated shit fall in

Alright kiddos, let this be a lesson to ALWAYS put the plants you take in from outside on quarantine for couple of weeks before taking them in with your other plants.
My poor baby Anthurium almost got eaten whole.
These microscopic little twats just walk on the leaf and suck the juices out making the leaf greyish and ugly.
Thankfully my Anthurium doesn't have that much leaves on it so it was pretty easy for me to wash, wipe and poison them with pyretrine.
The best way to keep bugs away is wiping your plants' leaves and giving them a good wash in the sink or in the shower every now and then. Make sure to keep the humidity high and spray water on them on daily basis. Spraying water on leaves lowers the temperature of its surface for a tiny bit and that temperature change is something bugs don't like not one bit.
And now for the culprits
This is what happpens to you when you bring bugs to my home, Brugmansia.
You get stripped off of all your leaves until you start growing healthy ones.
Always be on watch for tiny bugs, they can do a whole lot of damage if they get to spread to all of your plants.

This poor Cycas revoluta has a major infestation of lesser snow scale.
They find good hiding spots in the nooks and crannies of this plant.
This is how it looks in natural light, not very pretty
The whole appearance of the plant is sad and tired.
At least compared to its pal from the other side of the room. It is FANCY!

Probably some "egg shells" of spider mites in this ficus
Virus in Dracaena.
Tämä traakkipuun (Dracaena deremensis 'Janet Graig') Lehtien vioitus näyttää virusperäiseltä.
Lesser snow scales in my Codiaeum. The most INEFFECTIVE scale bug ever. Just wipe it away every time you see it, its too slow to infect the whole plant ever again.

SCALE INSECTS ON CYCADOPHYTA aaaaaaaargh
